Vor kurzem bin ich in Fotoarchive der frühen Radsportgeschichte eingetaucht. Ich bin dann bei historischen Aufnahmen von Paris-Brest-Paris, dem heiligen Gral der Randonneure, hängen geblieben. Diese grobkörnigen Schwarz-Weiß-Aufnahmen der ersten PBP-Austragungen haben mich sofort fasziniert. Diese Bilder erzählen keine Geschichte von Aero-Optimierung und Leichtbau, sondern von einer rohen Entschlossenheit und echter Authentizität.

Mein zweites offizielles Brevet auf den Philippinen – 200 Kilometer entlang der Küste von Bohol. Diese Insel ist tatsächlich ein schöner Platz zum Radfahren. Manche Begegnungen haben schon etwas Schicksalhaftes. 2011 im Ziel von Paris-Brest-Paris wurde ich von einem Taiwaner namens A-Yuan angesprochen, ob wir nicht ein gemeinsames Zielfoto machen könnten. Nix dagegen. Ich selbst hatte keine Kamera dabei und habe das Bild auch erst über ein Jahr später erhalten. Aber der Kontakt war hergestellt und riss auch nie wieder ganz ab. 2013 lief ich bei LEL völlig übermüdet um Mitternacht in Edinburgh in die Kontrollstation und traf zwar nicht den Meister selbst, aber seine Ehefrau.

110, 200 und 400 km – das waren die ersten gemeinsamen Fahrten unserer 2018 gegründeten Sportgruppe. Nachdem Tim mit einem 200er und Stefan mit dem Gran Fondo 110 die ersten Fahrten perfekt organisiert hatten, entschied ich mich dazu, in diesem Jahr noch einen 400 km Ritt zu planen und zu organisieren.
