Following the successful editions in 2018 and 2022, the ALPI 4000 is set for its third run. Right on time for the Olympic year 2026, the Italian ultra-cycling event is attracting riders with a completely renewed route, even more elevation gain, and the opportunity to qualify for PBP 2027.
Bormio, Italy. – The wait is over: the organizer of the legendary ALPI 4000 Super Randonnée has officially announced the third edition for June 20, 2026. The long-distance ride, considered one of the most demanding in Europe, returns with a course profile that will push even experienced randonneurs to their limits.
1329 Kilometers of Grit: The Facts on the New Edition
The ALPI 4000 2026 presents itself in an almost entirely new guise. Over 90 percent of the route has been redesigned to send participants on an unforgettable journey through the most beautiful and challenging regions of the Alps and Dolomites.

With an increase to 22,000 meters of positive altitude difference, the third edition further increases the event’s intensity. Thanks to a special derogation (Derogation) from LRM, the maximum riding time has been set at a generous 145 hours, which gives participants the necessary time to face the route with confidence.
In the Milan–Bormio–Cortina Triangle
The 2026 route uses Bormio—a central city during the MiCo 2026 Olympic year—as its focal point. From there, the course extends to Milan and deep into the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The organizers promise a route that is not only physically demanding but also culturally and scenically unique. The course combines over 400 kilometers of cycle paths with the most famous and feared climbs of the Giro d’Italia:

- Pordoi Pass
- Falzarego Pass
- Bernina Pass
The Path to PBP Qualification 2027
The ALPI 4000 is not just the ultimate test of man and machine, but also an important milestone in the randonneur calendar. Successfully completing the Super Randonnée is certified with a BRM/ACP Patent which is valid for qualification for Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) 2027.
Registration Information
Those who wish to face this extreme challenge should mark the registration start date on their calendar:
- Registration opens since December 1, 2025.
- The early bird price is €300 (until January 31, 2026).
- Thereafter, the price increases to €380.
The entry fee includes extensive services, including GPS tracking with a professional tracker, 8 refreshment and accommodation options (Dorms), and a Finisher T-shirt for all who successfully complete the patent.
